This is a rare recording of The Supremes, live on the night of May 20th 1967 at the Copacabana Club in New York City. This is one of the final concert performances of the Supremes, before founding member Florence Ballard was fired (July 1, 1967) and the official name of the group was changed to “Diana Ross and the Supremes” (July 1, 1967 – January 14, 1970). The Supremes were one of the first Motown acts to perform at the Copacabana in 1965 (The Supremes Live at the Copa). Around this time, there were persistent problems with the group, as Florence Ballard’s relationship with the group would sever, in a matter of 2 months. On that night though, 3 women came together and presented the Copa audience with a show, still letting the people know that they were still SUPREME, despite background problems. The listings are: Opening Introduction (Lou Panella), From This Moment On, Put On A Happy Face, The Symphony Medley: With A Song In My Heart, Stranger In Paradise, Wonderful, Wonderful, Unchained Melody and Without A Song. *I downloaded this concert a few months back, but due to the complaints about the pitch and stuff, I wanted to fix up everything, and it sounds a bit better.
